WINE CONTEST LUIGI MANZONI: PUNTO OBTAINS A CERTIFICATE OF MERIT

13 February 2019

50 years after the passing of Luigi Manzoni, professor of Natural Science and Plant Pathology, the Conegliano Wine School, of which he was president, honoured his memory with a new national wine contest "Incrocio Manzoni". PUNTO UNO by Villa Domizia won the certificate of merit.

Between 1924 and 1935 the professors Luigi Manzoni and Dalmasso carried out a genetic experiment to improve the existing vines in Veneto and to create new ones. The combination between Rhenish Riesling and Pinot Bianco were really satisfying and the chosen name was Incrocio Manzoni Bianco 6.0.13. On Friday, 16th November 2018, twenty-five experts gathered in Conegliano to award those wines with at least 85% of Manzoni Bianco, Manzoni Moscato, Manzoni Rosa, Incrocio Manzoni 2.14, Incrocio Manzoni 2.15 and Incrocio Manzoni 2.3 grapes, belonging to the catgories DOC and IGT. Quality Spumante wines (VSQ) could take part in the contest. Other 83 wines from sixty-one wineries from Veneto, Trentino, Fiuli, Lomabardy and Lazio were evaluated. Wines from Treviso were awarded with three of the five golden medals and PUNTO UNO by Villa Domizia obtained the certificate of merit.

Punto Uno is the result of research and passion for the territory showed by the young winery from Bergamo; it is a wine with a strong personality, soft and pleasant, that, in only three years time, has conquered a wide range of consumers and has entered the Top Hundred 2018.

Enrico Rota, Villa Domizia's sales director, confirms his satisfaction: "Punto Uno is the best wine to represent our way of working, it was the starting point of a production path that has gained plenty of appreciations".
